There is a limit on columns/rows from any OLE spreadsheet
Over this past weekend, I had had an eye-opening experience from inserting an OLE spreadsheet into and AutoCAD drawing. Because, my counter part - from out of state assured me that my spreadsheet is not going to update, I converted it to a PDF file, then an image and completed my task. But, I learned in the process that there exists a limit. Although this limitation is not an error on the part of AutoCAD, it is another inefficient feature of OLE.
AutoCAD Temp & Backup Files
AutoCAD produces other files that can only benefit you if you know how to use them to your advantage. ·BAK files: when you save a drawing, the previously .DWG is duplicate copied as .BAK.You can rename .BAK to .DWG and restore the previously saved file if you must. But, it is widely known that converted .BAK files are not reliable.If your machine does not produce .BAK files, this feature might have been turned off in “OPTIONS.”
AC$ Files: These temporary files are created by AutoCAD during the drawing session. They are completely wiped out when AutoCAD closes.
SV$ Files: These auto save files are controlled by the setting in the “OPTIONS”. These files are an accurate duplicate of your DWGs. If you crash out of a session, this is your best chance to restore your work. It is important to know that no SV$ file is created if an AutoCAD session ends normally. You get a SV$ file only if you crash out of a session.
Commonly used AutoCAD System VAriables
EXPERT: Enables/Disables certain warning dialog boxes
FILEDIA: Controls the display of a dialog boxes.
MIRRTEXT: Set this variable to zero for attribute definitions to display correctly (not reversed or upside down in the mirror command.)
PICKADD: Set to on, would allow it to add to the current selection set. Set to off, would allow it to replace from the selection set.
PICKFIRST: You can control whether you select object before or after you issue a command.
PSLTSCALE: To controls line type scaling in the layout tab.
STARTUP: Enables/Disables New Drawing dialog box when starting AutoCAD.
