T: What is a delegate?
Dad: Where did you see that word?
T: Every where! On small signs everywhere.
Dad: A delegate is like an agent. It’s a person who is selected by the people of a community to represent them.
T: Can they be women?
Dad: Of course.
T: How many women are delegates?
Dad: I don’t know honey.
T: Can a woman be the president?
Dad: Sure she could.
T: Are any women who are presidents?
Dad: Many women have been presidents of many countries. Currently there are few women who are presidents.
T: How many?
Dad: A few. Let us see; Germany, Israel, Philippines and Liberia. That’s all I know.
T: Only four in the whole entire world?
Dad: There maybe more; That’s all I know.
T: Dad, how many people live in this world?
Dad: six and half billion people live in this world.
T: Oh my gosh! SIX AND HALF BILLION?
Dad: That’s right. six and half billion.
T: Dad, how many people are women in this world?
Dad: I’m not sure. I think about half of the world’s population are women.
T: Can I be a president some day?
Dad: Of course you can. Do you want to be a president?
T: Yes dad. I want to.
Dad: But, I have better plans for you.
T: You always say that, dad. I want to be a woman president. Can you help me dad?
Dad: Of course I will help you.
T: Can a president be republican?
Dad: Presidents are either republican or democrats. We only have two political parties in this country.
T: Was George Washington a republican?
Dad: We did not have this party structure during his time?
T: What dad?
Dad: Republican and Democratic parties started with Thomas Jefferson. George Washington was a Federalist.
T: I want to be a federalist.
Dad: I don’t know any one who is a Federalist now days.
T: Darn it.
Dad: Lincoln was a republican.
T: What are you dad? Are you a republican? Or are you a democrat?
Dad: Remember what I said about religion and politics?
T: Yes, I do. We can only talk about that to our families.
Dad: Right.
T: I’m a family. Will you tell me?
Dad: I tell you how I am honey. I keep an open mind. When it’s time to vote, I vote for the candidate who has better ideas and is more prepared; I vote for the candidate who deserves my vote.
T: Do I deserve your vote?
Dad: You have my vote! When you’re older and you still want to be a president you have my vote.
T: Thanks dad.
Dad: You’re most welcome sweetie.
