About Us

Are You a Republican, Dad?
T: Are you a republican, Dad?
Dad:
How do...
Interrupts...
T:
Or, Are you a Democrat?
Dad: How do you know about democrats and republicans?
T:
Oh, Jim Webb is a democrat. And, George Allen is a republican. They are candidates today!
Dad:
I know, honey.
T:
Did you vote daddy? Are you a republican dad?
Dad:
What do you mean by a republican?
T:
I don’t know! I just know George Allen is a republican and Jim Webb is a democrat.
Dad:
A republican is a member of the Republican Party. And a democrat is a member of a Democratic Party.
T:
I know that…what kind of a party?
Dad:
A party, an organization. The Republican Party is an organization. So is the Democratic Party. These organizations are political organizations. We have many political organizations in our country. But, Democratic and Republican Parties are the largest of them all.
T:
Dad can you tell me if you’re a republican or a democrat?
Dad:
This is one of those questions you should never ask anyone.
T:
But you can tell me daddy; I’m your daughter.
Dad:
But, my answer could influence you.
T:
What do you mean, daddy?
Dad:
If I would tell you I’m a Republican you may think you should be a republican too. And, if I would tell you I’m a democrat you may think you should be a Democrat too. I’m not a politician so it’d only matter to me what I am.
T:
That’s right dad, you are an artist, like you always say.
Dad:
Right! I am an artist not a politician.
T:
But, What should I be?
Dad:
What would you like to be?
T:
I want to be like George Washington. Was he a republican?
Dad:
No!  General Washington was a Federalist. If I were you I’d do some research on each of these parties before joining any of them. It’d be helpful to study their philosophies.
T:
What?
Dad:
To learn a about their ideas; for instance, republicans like to promote business economic development and capitalism. While, democrats like to support social programs and expand government support for the public. They both have grand ideas in support of the people but their ideas are fundamentally different.
T:
Can we research together dad? Because, I have no idea what you’re talking about dad!
Dad:
Of course. Let’s think about the whole idea first.
Keeps quite for a while; too long for my liking…
Dad:
Of course, you don’t have to think about it at this very moment, love.
Chuckles
T:
Dad?
Dad:
Yes dad?
T:
Who did you vote for? No secretes! We’re a family!
Dad:
Who did you vote for?
T:
I voted for the bear.
Dad:
The bear?
T:
That’s right dad. I voted for the bear.
Dad:
Why the bear?
T:
Oh, he was caring and sensitive and strong.
Dad:
Who was the other candidate?
T:
The fox! He was sneaky and dishonest, and weak too.
Dad:
In that case bear was the candidate to support.
